What People are Saying
When the website launched we placed an ad to sell our tight grain Douglas Fir. We had 3 hits within 3 days. These calls resulted in 2 sales for the Likely Community Forest. WoodSourceBC.com is a great tool for us and saves us a ton of time we would have spent making phone calls trying to find buyers. It simply makes the selling of logs more cost effective. We will continue to use WoodSourceBC to sell our communities forest products.

Community Spotlight

Cherryville
Cherryville is a community of 1000 residents in the Shuswap River valley between Sugar Lake and Mabel Lake. There is no organized fire department for 340 houses, in rural residential settings. The area has a strong rural character focusing on agriculture and forestry sectors, as well as tourism and recreation opportunities. Our community is geographically diverse with a large flat bottom valley basin surrounded by steep forested hillsides. There are significant private and crown forestlands within the community.
Cherryville Community Forest is located on Cherry and Heckman ridges immediately adjacent to rural residence/forest interface neighbourhoods. This 1070ha tenure is located in the transition zone of the ICH and IDF BEC zones within the Okanagan Shuswap Forest District.
Cherry Ridge Management Committee, a non profit society registered in British Columbia, has managed the forest resource on Cherry Ridge since 1995 in cooperation with the Okanagan Shuswap Forest District. CRMC has received a CFA on two blocks of local forest land on Cherry and Heckman Ridges.
Over the past few years we have experienced a decrease in business due to the current economic conditions we all face. In spite of this we have a very positive outlook for our future business. We have very little pine and we have the premium tight ringed fir beam wood and big cedar poles.
As people become more and more web focused we have ensured that we too are very web friendly. We are a user of WoodSourceBC and saw greater awareness among industrial buyers, a good target audience. We will continue to use WoodSourceBC to reach artisans and craftsman who need small amounts of premium fir and cedar wood.
